martin luther king day

It's now been raining for over 24 hours, and it's not just light rain, this is stuff that will make you wet even if you run. It's weird - it's still hot, but it's wet. I feel like i'm back in Fiji.

Anyhow, back to the title of this post. Apparently in the only country that exists outside of Australia (that would be the USA :) ), it's Martin Luther King Jr Day. Doug TenNapel has a nice little post featuring some quotes from his sermons...here's one that stuck out to me....I'd heard bits of it before, but never realised that it was from a sermon by Martin Luther King (in 1957):

Sorry Kathryn, I was being "slightly" scarcastic with that remark. My friends and I have a joke about the "fact" that to Americans, often they ARE the world....Australian's don't celebrate "Martin Luther King Jr Day". In fact, we don't have any holidays that celebrate an individual Australian, even though I still think we should have a holiday on 27 Aug for "Sir Donald Bradman" day....just handy that our birthdays are on the same day!
okay. . thanx. Yeah, i hafta agree with you that some Americans can come across that way. I think you should contact your member of parliament to request your Sir Donald/Paula day!!!
