... Of the day

Quote of the day..."much time for thinking comes with a low fibre diet"

word of the day..."anointment"

Old news of the day...U2 finally rescheduled for november!

current/ongoing news of the day...had a day off on wednesday and decided to get a pedicure, ended up with 1 large open, weeping wound on my heel and 2 smaller wounds...yesterday was the first day that i could put any pressure on it while walking...

shocking news of the day...the thrashing given to the crows by the eagles

revelation of the day...no miracle of Jesus was performed outside of partnership. Something was always required of someone - washing mud out of the eyes, reporting to a priest, filling jars with water, the offering of a lunch.

Beyond help!

Ok, i've pretty much given up on even trying to keep this thing updated. I've been trying to finish my conference summaries, but i can't remember all the details!

My life seems to be pretty monotonous at the moment. I've been working 6 days a week and then singing at the 9 and 10.45 am services, so there hasn't been much time for doing anything else.

sadly, the main highlight over the past few weeks was subscribing to 2 magazines - CCM and Relevant magazines. It's something i've always wanted to do, so i finally did it.

saturday night i went to the album launch of my friend's band, Portico77. The drive there was interesting, as i've hurt my neck and shoulders, so it was a little tricky to change lanes! The launch was held at a church called 'servants of jesus'. It's a church made up of two churches - one catholic and one Pentecostal. Apparently they worship separately, but they work together in the community. It's an interesting idea.

yesterday in the 10.45 and tonight at 7.30 we have peter irvine speaking at a success seminar. Peter is the managing director of gloria jeans internationally, and he is sharing how they have gone from opening the first store in australia in 1996 to now owning the master franchise internationally, and what it's like to take on starbucks!

a couple of weeks ago, i went to see the crows take on the swans at the SCG. We won, of course! During the game an umpire was hit in the head by the ball - i think that got the biggest cheer of the game! Also, there was a canadian ice hockey team sitting behind us - one of the coaches came and sat with Me as i 'looked happier than the sydney supporters'!

[HS06] Wednesday

I hope you understood that last post. If it seemed fragmented, that's probably because it was written in about 5 sections :-)

wednesday was another great day at hillsong. The day started off with ps brian speaking in the morning, then we headed off to the worship stream, where the worship was acoustic, and lead by martin smith and stu g of delirious. It was a beautiful, intimate time of worship. The teaching came from darlene and Jentzen - darkene spoke about working out your 'because' - your reason for why you do what you do, and Jentzen spoke about how things are only limited when we try to measure them - we limit God and ourselves by measuring.

i then went to a vocal elective with darlene and cindy cruise-ratcliff.

[Ok, it's been over a week since i started writing this post, so please forgive any vagueness!]

i'm not sure who spoke at the night meeting - i think it was Jentezen franklin and bill hybels. Alvin, israel and cindy lead the worship.

[HS06] tuesday

Today was a great day. It started off with rick warren in the 9am meeting. I didn't get much out of that session, as rick basically did a quick run through of the major points of the purpose driven life. We did that as a church last year and even then i wasn't really into it. (I still haven't finished the book!) i was very tempted to leave the session and get a coffee, especially when he started running late. But, i couldn't bring myself to leave the meeting, so i stayed. Rick ended up running 25 minutes over time, so we only had 5 minutes to get to the stream session for worship & creative arts.

once we got there, alvin slaughter lead the worship, and them bill hybels from willow creek spoke to us, which was great.

after the stream session, i headed off to an elective with israel Houghton on song writing. It ended up being standing room only, but somehow i walked in and found a seat! Israel spoke for a while, and then he and marty Sampson started to write a song - a song i hope they finish, because it was sounding incredible.

after that elective, i was planning on going to a lunchtime session with alvin slaughter, but i ran into some friends in the previous elective, so i spent the afternoon break having lunch with them, which was great.

i was planning on buying a ticket to the 7.45 meeting with delirious, but one of my friends had a delegate ticket to all 7.45 meetings that he wasn't using, so he gave it to Me - and it was for door one!

the 4.30 meeting was with delirious and frank Damazio, and frank spoke about momentum. Before frank Spoke, delirious led us in worship which as always, was an incredible experience.

then it was time for the 7.45 meeting, with my ticket for door 1. My seat was great - even with my 'height difficulties' i was still able to see.

the meeting kicked off with the team from hillsong, and then delirious took over and played for an hour. One song they played, 'our God reigns' was just incredible. I'm going to post the lyrics when i get the chance.

then, rick Godwin spoke about the importance of salt and how it relates to us in today's society.

the meeting finished at 10.30 - it was a huge day!

if you're interested, i think that all messages and electives are available as mp3 downloads on the conference website.

Thought for the day

'You never know why you're alive until you know what you'd die for.'

mercy Me - coming up to breathe

[HS06] Night 1

Tonight was the opening night of hillsong conference 2006. The tickets i was allocated with my registration give Me entry to the 1st night meeting at 4.30 for every night of the conference.

i must admit, i'm quite disappointed with my allocated seat. I registered at conference last year, but i'm still sitting in the 2nd last row on the very top level of the superdome. Those around Me were also quite annoyed. However, if you're not in your seat 15 before the meeting, your seat is released, so i moved and got a slightly better seat.

rick warren (purpose driven life) from saddleback church spoke in our meeting. It was good, but i found it hard to stay focussed and so i ended up reading the program instead. The main point of his message was 'what are you going to do with what's in your hand?' - that what is in your hand is indicative of three things: 1-identity, 2-income, 3-influence. Rick used the example of the staff in exodus 3 & 4.

tomorrow i will be hearing from: rick warren, bill hybels, israel Houghton, alvin slaughter, frank Damazio and delirious?. It should be a good day!

Still alive

I think there was a problem with the sending of this post, so here it is again.

--

Hi all. It's 5am and i'm heading off to bed and thought i'd send off a quick post before i get too tired!

So yes, i am still alive, and no, i haven't dropped off the face of the earth. My excuse this week is that it's too cold in the morning on the train to punch any posts into my mobile! I mean, have you ever tried to send an sms with gloves on? I have enough trouble trying to answer the thing! :-)

So in brief: insight retreat with pat mesiti was incredible. Freezing cold, but fantastic. We discovered that stale marshmellows are fantastic to throw rather than eat around a bonfire...volleyball is fun to play when there are no rules...(go the mighty wombats!)...and that i was very smart to take my electric blanket on camp!

so much else has happened since my last post, but i'll leave that for later - i mean, i'll need something to do while i'm in the queue at hillsong.

oh- if anyone reading this is going to hillsong, let Me know and we'll do coffee or something. Just reply to this post, and i'll get it.
