No Water

Last night, being the night-owl that I am, I was heading off to bed at around 12:30am. I went into the bathroom to wash my face, only to discover that there was no hot water (literally - nothing came out of the tap), there was very little cold water, and the water pressure was non-existant. I was confused. (You see, my brain stops operating around 11pm).

But then I realised that there were "truck noises" coming from outside, and our street was lit by floodlights. Curious, I went outside to see what was going on. And what had happened? The water pipe that delivers water to our street had burst further up the road. There was a truck outside my house "emptying" the pipes further down from the burst main, so they could replace it.

Ok, so there was my answer. But you know what annoyed me most? The fact that our country is in the grips of the worst drought we've seen for over 100 years, and there was the man from Sydney Water, flushing out the pipes - just letting hundreds and hundreds of litres of water flow down the drain. I understand that there's not much he could have done, but at a time when they're increasing the cost of water, and we're nearly at level 4 restrictions, to see water go to waste like that is frustrating.
