Worship is...

I wrote a short study on worship for my connect group the yesterday. Not enough people turned up, so we watched lost, the family guy and the third girl who turned up had just finished training at napoleon, so she did our make-up. (Girls hey?)

i didn't understand how hard it can be to write a short, simplified study! I started writing about one area of worship, only to realise that i could write a whole study on one minute area. So i started again, and started with the question of "what do you think worship is?", and came up with these points: (please note that i don't have my notes with Me, but hopefully i'll remember it correctly):

1. Worship is a response.
2. Worship is obedience.
3. Worship is sacrifice.
4. Worship doesn't depend on your emotions or circumstances.
5. Worship is relationship.
6. Worship is service.

so often people relate worship to singing or music, when in reality it's only a small part of the picture; singing is an EXPRESSION of worship, but it is only worship when coupled with the right attitude.

for example, i could stand in church and sing, even raise my hands, and it wouldn't be worship. However, if i was standing in church, singing to God with my hands raised as a RESPONSE to something He had revealed to Me, then that would be worship.
There are many times in the Bible - especially in Psalms, where worship is a response to a revelation.

i hope that all makes sense. I may clarify this at a later point...

It's officially winter!

Yesterday i jumped in my car to in to the station, only to discover that my windscreen was covered in ice. That's probably why it felt like my electric blanket wasn't working during the night...

We also discovered the other day that our shop air conditioner isn't reverse cycle! Hopefully that will be sorted out soon.

updated

my current listening and reading has been updated on the right hand side bar....

World cup fever?

... Maybe not, but i did happen to watch the last 10 minutes of the game - which thankfully turned out to be the best 10 minutes of the game. When i started watching, the score was 1 all, and by the end it was australia 3, japan 1. Nice work by all :-)

my lunch at parliament house on thursday was great. I was seated at table three with Rev. Moyes' aide, her husband and her brother, along with 2 pastors from lighthouse church in wollongong, who remembered Me from my time with iron & clay. There were two other ladies that i didn't know, and then there was Belinda, who i recognised from church. What a small world!

the lunch itself was delicious, and the entertainment by the watoto childrens choir was incredible. And hopefully, more people now know that WORD is now open in the city.

and i can't end without making a note of this:
he west coast lose next week, and we win, them guess who'll be #1?!

Update update update!

Wow! I can't believe how long it's been since i posted anything! I guess when i'm busy Blogging doesn't rank too high on my to do list.

So Here's what's new:
We (at work) survived our first sale, so that's good.
I'm working my first saturday this week, so we'll see how that goes.
i'm having lunch at Parliament House today, and the Watoto Children's Choir will be performing. It's a fundraiser held by Rev. Hon. Dr. Gordon Moyes for the choir, so it should be a good time. Our store donated some things to the auction, so it should be good to see how much it goes for.
Another part of my job is to look after the music section of our store, and that coupled with the position of store supervisor, i get calls from label reps and the like. I had someone from CCC music come and have a chat last week, which was good and informative. He also have Me a free dvd, which was very nice of him. Then, in our deliveries on tuesday, there were three cd's for Me from integrity music, which was a pleasant surprise. The best thing? I was actually considering purchasing all three of the cd's, but now i don't have to!
the three cd's were :
Coming Up to Breathe - Mercy Me
Phil Wickham - Phil Wickham
Welcome Home - Brian Littrell (of Backstreet Boys fame)

I'm still slowly reading the book on pre destination (God of the Possible), and even though it's heavy-going, it's good. Ps John actually spoke on pre destination on Sunday, which was great, as it's something that's not spoken about too much, especially from the pulpit.

well that's all for now - i'll try to post about the lunch and the choir on my way good tonight!
